Welcome to the Hawaii Environmental Hui.

• This site is for everyone who is interested in environmental issues.  Being an Hawaii based organization, we are primarily focused on the Hawaii and the Pacific Basin.  We focus on local problems, because we can be most effective at home.  We take care of our corner of the earth; you take care of yours and together we can create miracles.  
• We will share our knowledge, discuss issues, build coalitions and elect legislators who will care for the earth and its people.
• We will not always agree.  In fact we expect disagreement.  Just be sure you always respect the other persons's opinion and avoid any personal attacks.
• Where we have a reasonable consensus, we will take strong position and build coalitions. We will advocating for issus we as a group support.  If we do not have consensus, you are encouraged to create coalitions even if we develop groups for and against the same issue.  All we ask is you listen to all sides and make up your own mind.
• We are not yet a non-profit organization. We are free to say what what we want.  However, "I support xxxx" is probably better than "Vote for xxxx."  Stick to facts like voting records and the public statements of a candidate.  When quoting a statistic please site it's source if possible.  Opinions are welcome, but it should be clear they are an opinion

You may want to participate in the Hui just to stay informed.  That is fine, but we encourage you to as active in the group as you want including actively working on issues you are passionate about.

Be patient, we will dress up this site as quickly as possible, but our focus must be on content and participation.  Your contributions are welcome.
